Digital Scrapbooking- A Day Out: Just Playing Around

This is a cute outdoor, playground, kids, kids at heart and much more kit.  There are just the right amount of elements to use to create several pages or books.  Meredith Cardall has also created some fun solid papers and an alpha to go with it.  She has worked hard to perfect her kits and it shows with ever new kit she produces.

A couple of the pages created using the kit above.

Digital Scrapbooking - Life Under Water by Meredith Cardall

Love this bright, fun kit that Meredith has created for everyone.  The elements are perfect.  There are so many to choose from that it is impossible not to create the perfect page.  She has included Instalife cards as well as cards for those Project 365.

Crochet and Cake - BABY SHOWER Creations

I was tasked with throwing a baby shower for two of our new Mommies to Be that arrived at RAF Alconbury recently.  They both have little boys but were waiting for the arrivals of little girls!

 Parts of the cake toppers
 Buttons for the Quilt pattern
Roses to go around the booties
Finished cake!!!!  Turned our Pretty good for my first!
 Little Loopy Booties
Little sets for each of the little girls.

I love challenges... the cake was a huge challenge for me... from making the Marshmallow Fondant to making all the pieces to put onto the cake and trying to find a recipe for the cake!  The hats and booties were my release from the stress of that.  = )  I am just glad that it is all finished and I can worry next about making Paige's birthday cake!

Digital Scrapbook-Danielle Young Kits

Danielle headed off to vacation and left us with a coupon to get some goodies to play with while she was gone.  I chose a few of her kits to keep the albums going for Shell Island.  Also completed the Door Challenge at Oscraps.

Crochet- Baby Wigs

I created these for a friend who asked if I could possibly make some of them for her new baby due in November.  The bangs (fringe in  the UK) had to be done a bit different than the normal loop stitch so they could be on the correct side of the hat and not the back side.

Can't wait to see the little Girl in these after she is born.

Beach Shack - Digital Scrapbooking

I was able to play with this bright cheery kit which is much needed here when the days are gloomy.  Danielle Young and Tracy Martin did a great job on this collab.  I know I now need to scrap the newest beach pictures from Shell Island, Wales!

Crochet- Wall hanging- Birdhouse

Of course I have been around and looking at different Ideas for things to crochet.  One of the main places I go is Pinterest.  I love it!  I love that ideas are just pinned everywhere and I am not having to search through hundreds of blogs to find something.  I am a very visual person so seeing it is very important!

So while I was searching, I found these cute little house wallhangings.  While I do not like following patterns as it takes me much longer to figure out instead of just doing, I do love many of the ideas and figure out how to do these easily without patterns.  Plus it makes it one of a kind to me or my recipients!

This is what I came up with.  As I said.. no pattern used.

crochet - teacher's gift

I was put on the task to create a teacher's gift this year.  Her idea was crocheted pencil toppers.  Another adventure for me since I had not tried these before.  I knew how to create flowers and leaves and knew how to create cylinder shapes but to put all three together and have them fit correctly was a challenge.  I started with the cylinder because I needed to get the gauge down in order for them to fit the top of the pencils.  I did not want the toppers to fall of easily but also did not want to struggle pushing them onto the pencil backs.  Once those were finished I worked on different flowers in different colours.  Finally the leaves.  None of these were the same and that is how I wanted them because every leaf is just a tad different.   All together there needed to be 11 pencil toppers.   They took me two days of work and I think they came out lovely.

Digital Scrapbooking/ Hybrid- Card Scripts

I was asked to be a part of a new team, Cassel Creations, that uses scripts in PSP.  This was a great offer and I was excited to try this.  I have used scripts before but these were ones I usually created to make it easier to repeat different effects for the photos I was working on.  I was given permission by Karen Lewis to use some of her kits she had created to play with these scripts.  The first scripts I picked for this challenge was the Loop#1 Script as well as the Card and Envelope script.  The loop script takes a paper or ribbon and will make it into a folded or bent ribbon.  This is great to add dimensions to your pages or cards.  The Card and Envelope script creates just that, a card and envelope that work perfectly together.  Now you have to put a little extra work in to decorate these since it is more of a template for you to use but that is what I like.  I like being able to customize things that suite me and my needs.

This is what it looks like before printing after customizing.

Two cards printed

Digital Scrapbook- Kirby Hall

I created these using Karen Lewis's For The Record #1.  I am sad that she is no longer creating beautiful kits but has chosen to go a different route in her art.  I also used Cassel Creations Scripts.  This one is called Loop#1 which takes a ribbon and creates a looped or folded ribbon for you to use on your layouts.

Crochet- Baby Hats

Here are a couple new hats that I completed for a new baby to come.  I have been completing hats to be given out to the new babies who are born within the squadron.  I can't believe how many babies have been born since I started doing these.  It as been hard to keep up with them.

Crochet- Baby Wellies

Again ... another pattern I have seen but I looked at one of them and could not figure out how they completed theirs to look like this... so I made my own pattern for me and they turned out adorable.  Who wouldn't want some little wellies for England?

Crochet- Cozies!

Here are two more of the cozies I have created. I love how each came out.  Some more detailed than others.

This one was for a friend.. = )

Of course one for my husband.  Go BUCKS!
And a matching one for my tea without all the details. = )

Crochet - baby shoes

I was a bit tired of doing little infant hats so I needed to break free and try something new.  I have seen little shoes out there similar so I came up with my own pattern to complete them .  I am not one to follow patterns usually as for me sometimes they are difficult for me to understand enough to follow.  The blue ones are smaller than the black even though I used the same size hooks for both and same stitch count but the black yarn was a bit thinker than the blue making them a bit bigger.

Crochet- Granny Square Bag

So things have been busy around here but I did manage to whip this little bag up.  It is made using granny squares then laying them all out and sewing them together.  I love how it came together.

Created 15 granny squares to make a bag approx. 12 inches wide and 8 inches tall.

arrangement and sewing
Bag completed now for the handle
Completed Handle and Bag.

I did not steam it as I like the puffy look more than a flat bag but if you want a more flat bag, add a little steam to the finished product.

More projects... Crochet

So since the baby hats, I have been busy making more items.  I made a little Knight's helmet for a 2 almost 3 yr old and it looked adorable on him.
I have seen a lot of these out there but I did not want to pay the $ for the pattern so I figured out a pattern for myself.  It was not too difficult, but I should have written it down so I remembered in case I needed to do it again.  But I guess each will be one of a kind if I need to make more.

I also completed another pair of leg warmers.  This time for a little 9 yr old.  her favorite colors are light blue and pink so I was able to use some of my other yarns for hers.

Then I got working on some other silly hats... Bearded ones... They are silly but cute!

Long Beard

Tennessee Dad and Son hats with Beards

Finally some Coffee Cozies.  (Coffee Cup Sweaters)
